13. Fraggle Rock
Innovative puppetry from Jim ''The Muppets' Henson, Fraggle Rock was a wildly popular cartoon during the 1980s and very fondly remembered by people who grew up in that era. Basically in each episode Uncle Matt goes exploring in the outside world and sends the Fraggles a postcard about his journey. There are, however, in each episode - moral lessons to be learned by the Fraggles, their mates the dozers and the dreadful Gorgs who think they are in charge of everything. There are fabulous songs galore and Henson provides a long list of characters for everyone to identify with. Much more oriented to children than The Muppets, Fraggle Rock engaged children rather than talking down to them and that is what made it brilliant. It respects children's intelligence. I think that Henson was never given due credit for Fraggle Rock. And if I ever have children, I would like them to watch this show.
