21 TV Shows With Iconic Theme Songs

6. The X-Files

Series Debut: 1993 Mark Snow's theme for the paranormal hit "The X-Files" was something unique when it debuted in 1993. It had more in common with the instrumental Star Trek theme than probably any other theme on this list, but even then, it doesn't really resemble much else - but it sure was memorable. According to the composer, the echo effect in the theme was created entirely by accident. After composing several renditions of the theme, and having all rejected by series creator Chris Carter, Snow dropped his hand and forearm on his keyboard out of frustration as Carter was leaving the room. The echo effect was produced, and the right theme was found. An extended version of the theme was included on the X-Files soundtrack album The Truth and the Light, and a single of the theme was released, which went to #2 on the UK Singles chart and stayed there for three weeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeaLey2VZnk
