While season 1 was a great way to kick off the shows eight season run, that doesnt mean all of it was perfect. Case in point? Teri Bauers amnesia. When the CTU safe house that Kim and Teri were in was attacked by Andre Drazens assassins, the two of them managed to escape in a car. After a brief chase, they managed to elude their pursuers, but when Teri got out of the car to see if they were safe, the car fell down the hill they were parked next to and Kim was still inside. Thinking she had witnessed her daughters death (Kim had gotten out in time), Teri experienced amnesia and was unable to remember anything about her life. Other than showing us who she had been with during her and Jacks separation, the amnesia served no purpose at all, and several episodes later she regained her memory after she was saved by Tony Almeida. If anyone asks you why amnesia is one of the worst storytelling devices, just point them in the direction of these episodes - youd be hard-pressed to find a better example.
