24 LAD Trailer - 5 Things We Know (And 5 We Want To Know)

5. The Time Jump

An interesting misconception for new viewers during the show's original run was that the season long "days" were consecutive, when in reality there was usually a significant time jump between seasons. It's been confirmed that the time jump between the series finale and the new miniseries will be about four years, exactly the length of time that's passed since 24 was last on the airwaves. The thought process behind such a huge time jump is that it will allow new viewers to enjoy the new miniseries without a substantial amount of knowledge of the series. So, let's do the math. The time jumps were as follows: 18 months between seasons 1 and 2, three years between 2 and 3, another 18 months between 3 and 4, another 18 months between 4 and 5, 20 months between 5 and 6 (which we'll round up to two years to simplify the math), four years between 6 and 7 (including the TV movie 24: Redemption), and 18 months between 7 and 8. When we add the four years that have passed between the series finale and the show's upcoming second run, approximately 19 years will have passed over the course of the series' entire run. And yet Jack Bauer is still a total badass in middle age.
