24: Legacy Season 1 Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs

1. The Massively Underwhelming Finale

Even those who struggled to make their way through the season at least hoped Legacy would serve up a suitably bonkers finale, because 24 has always been great at climaxes, right?

Well, not this time. Legacy's final episode was a giant, thudding anti-climax for the most part. There's no big twist here and no Jack Bauer cameo, but rather a ham-fisted 12-hour time-jump in the final moments and an absolute whimper of a final scene.

Plus, with a clear desire to be self-contained, there's little set-up for future seasons, even though numerous plot threads and missing characters have been just forgotten about, which is all the more frustrating as the ratings suggest Legacy may not be renewed for another go-around.

Simply, this is by far the weakest finale of any of the ten seasons to date.

As disappointing as Legacy largely was, though, it wasn't without some merits worth recognising...
