Played By - James Morrison, Episode - 8.00pm-9.00pm 24's seventh season is set against the backdrop of a crisis in the nation of Sangala, where General Benjamin Juma has successfully taken over the government. After operating through an underling for much of the day, he launches an assault on the White House himself, the latest in several attempts to attack America and prevent an invasion of his nation, where he has allowed a private defence contractor to develop and test devastating weapons. Jack learns of the attack in tandem with Bill Buchanan, a constant CTU presence throughout seasons four, five and six. They attempt to secure the President's residence, with Jack locking her in a safe room as Bill takes her tracker and leads Juma's men astray, being taken hostage with the rest of the people in the building. In the safe room, Jack activates some gas canisters unbeknownst to the President, who is eventually coaxed outside when her daughter's life is threatened. After Jack informs his colleague of this, Bill opts to make a heroic sacrifice, charging the room and discharging his gun to cause a distraction and end the siege. The FBI then storm the building to secure it, as Jack sits silently next to the lifeless corpse of his friend, mourning yet another loss with a tear.
7. George Mason
Played By - Xander Berkeley, Episode - Day 2: 10.00pm-11.00pm At the beginning of 24's second season, the Los Angeles branch of CTU is run by George Mason. Though an obstacle to Jack at times in season one, he re-instates the man when he learns of a nuclear bomb threat, and how Jack's cover with Joseph Wald's militia is the best lead that they have. George follows a fruitless lead to the bomb's location, but is nevertheless exposed to radioactive material after a brief shootout with assailants. Told that he has between a day and a week to live, he hides his condition and returns to work, where the bomb is eventually tracked down, though it is discovered that it cannot be disarmed prior to its detonation. George offers to fly the bomb and let it detonate over uninhabited desert, owing to his condition (which Jack becomes privy to the knowledge of). Jack stubbornly refuses to let his superior do so, however, owing to the fact that his failing health might jeopardise the mission. He therefore opts to fly the plane himself, but Mason stows away on board. Eventually able to convince Jack that his death would be futile, he takes over control of the plane, saying goodbye as he courageously flies the plane out of harm's way whilst Jack parachutes to safety.
