Played By - Dennis Hopper, Episode - Day 1: 11.00pm-12.00am Several years prior to the events of 24's first season, Jack Bauer is tasked with the elimination of a Serbian terrorist named Victor Drazen. He seemingly succeeds at his task, though the events of the season see Drazen's sons engineer the kidnapping of his wife Teri and daughter Kim in an attempt to have him assassinate Presidential candidate David Palmer, after which it later transpires that their father is alive and well in a detention facility, which they rescue him from. When Kim is kidnapped yet again after her initial rescue, Jack seeks her out once more, only to be falsely informed by his traitorous colleague Nina Myers that she has been killed, with the belief that this would deject him and prevent him taking any further action against Drazen. Instead, it has the opposite effect, prompting Jack to go on the warpath and become a one-man army as he storms the Serb's location, killing everybody in sight. His adversary surrenders, but Jack coldly puts twelve bullets in him, far more than required, and continues to squeeze the trigger of his gun even when it has run out of ammunition, such is his anger as a mourning father.

Played By - Paul McCrane/James Cromwell, Episode - Day 6: 12.00pm-1.00pm/5.00am-6.00am Much of 24's sixth season revolves around the Bauer family, including Jack's brother Graem and father Philip, the latter of whom owns a company that the former works for. After a suitcase nuke is detonated in the town of Valencia, Jack correctly speculates that the company might be involved, confronting his brother and learning that five such devices were acquired by the company and sold to Abu Fayed's terrorists. Graem is interrogated at CTU, where his father initially pleads ignorance of his activities. Asking for a moment alone with his son, however, he induces a seizure that kills him. Working for elements of the Chinese government in an attempt to accelerate China's ascension as a superpower, Philip then proceeds to kidnap his grandson Josh (Graem's son) and goes on the run, unsuccessfully trying to cover up his role in proceedings as his remaining son pursues him. The final showdown between father and son takes place on an oil rig, where Philip is injured by Josh. Jack then has a cold final conversation with the man that brought him into the world, before turning his back and walking away without a hint of regret as the rig is destroyed by a fighter jet airstrike.
