16. James Badge Dale Stole The Chase Edmunds Role From Gabriel Macht
The role of Chase Edmunds ended up being a breakthrough part for young actor James Badge Dale, for though he was only in the show's third season, he won a ton of acclaimed work in its wake, playing a pivotal role in Martin Scorsese's Best Picture-winning The Departed, appearing in the ensemble war drama The Pacific, as well as Flight, Iron Man 3, and countless other films. But did you know that the part was originally offered to another young up-and-comer? Gabriel Macht, best known these days for starring in legal TV series Suits, was promised it, but after Dale nailed his audition, 24's producers gave the part to him and promised Macht a meaty part in the show's fourth season. As you can probably guess, Macht never got that part, but things worked out just fine for him in the end regardless.
