6. Charles Logan (Days 4 To 6 And 8)

24 David Palmer
Fox

In the latter-half of season four, a terrified-looking Vice-President Charles Logan reluctantly assumed the position of commander in chief following President John Keeler’s incapacitation. Logan was so incapable of making any decision to the extent Mike Novick effectively orders him to call upon the services of former President David Palmer to help avert any further crises. That all changed in season five. Out went the hopelessness, the indecisiveness and in came a sinister schemer. For those who have watched day five, you’ll surely agree that the actor who plays him, Gregory Itzin, is simply a revelation in this role.

In season six he seeks solace from his past transgressions by turning to religion. No, Charles, you weren’t fooling anyone. Certainly his ex-wife Martha wasn’t fooled either. Still understandably full of hate and inner rage of Yellowstone Supervolcano proportions following the turmoil he put her through, she attempted to kill him by plunging a knife into his shoulder.

He was back to his old, manipulative ways in season eight: slowly but surely worming his way into President Allison Taylor’s inner circle. Finally, as the minutes ticked by on the final full season of 24, so too did we more or less witness the final moments of the Charles Logan story.

The name's Colbourn, James - yeah, doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
