24 Of 24's Most Memorable Characters - Ranked
7. Renee Walker (Days 7 And 8)
From the first hour in season seven there was a noticeable chemistry between the FBI special agent and Jack. As that chemistry grew during day seven, so did Jack’s influence concerning interrogation methods, as Renee began employing a more aggressive albeit productive means of coercion.
In the aftermath of the day’s events, an irrevocably changed Renee refuses to sign Alan Wilson’s transportation documents, switches off the holding room cameras and smashes the keypad to the outer holding room. At length, Renee opens the door to the holding room, stares at Wilson with scarily placid hatred and then calmly shuts the door behind her.
In season eight we see a withdrawn, deeply troubled Renee in the aftermath of almost torturing Wilson to death, which nearly reached a conclusion when it was revealed she tried to commit suicide. Fortunately her and Jack manage to reconcile, and perhaps there was a romantic light at the end of the turbulent tunnel. Pah, don’t be so silly! This is 24 after all. Thanks to those cold-hearted scriptwriters, just when you thought it might - hoped - be third time lucky in love for Jack, phut phut goes an assassin’s sniper rifle.
