21. Allison Taylor (Redemption, Days 7 And 8)
The show’s first female President of the United States was quick to stamp her authority by disbanding CTU as part of her administration’s overall objective to close down the numerous private defence firms whom she felt were to the detriment of national security. Close down CTU? How dare she!
President Taylor’s conscience was severely tested throughout season seven. In particular, faced with the unenviable decision of whether or not to turn in her daughter Olivia after discovering she was involved in the murder of Jonas Hodges, Taylor admirably stuck to her beliefs and ideals with which she ran for office and regretfully decided to inform the authorities of Olivia's crimes. A decision that had a domino effect as it claimed her marriage to Henry, who simply could not forgive his wife for betraying their daughter. But by the end of season eight her moral compass resembled something more akin to Captain Jack Sparrow’s wayward one, however that was mainly due to former President Charles Logan’s Machiavellian ways.
Thankfully she navigated her way back towards the right path during the last hour of season eight: admitting to the day’s cover-ups and crimes, saving Jack’s life and then urging him to flee the United States. God bless you, Madam President.
