24 Of 24's Most Memorable Characters - Ranked

22. Jonas Hodges (Redemption And Day 7)

24 David Palmer
Fox

When Hollywood heavyweight Jon Voight was announced as a season seven antagonist, you’d have initially assumed he would play the Big Bad. As it turned out, he was merely a middle man in the conspiracy pyramid, a character at first you think isn’t high-profile enough for someone of Voight’s acting calibre. Conversely, if he was cast as one of the main, virtually anonymous, seldom seen puppet masters - i.e. Will Patton’s Alan Wilson - then that would’ve been inadequate too.

For a man who looked to be in total control of things in 24: Redemption, everything from thereon in spectacularly unravelled for Hodges over the course of day seven. We watched as his passion turned to desperation turned to nigh-on insanity as he tried to justify his atrocious actions to an enraged Jack, who was interrogating him. Additionally, seeing two wonderfully gifted actors in Kiefer Sutherland and Jon Voight going toe-to-toe made for exceptional television.

The fact Hodges tried and failed to kill himself summed up his downfall: he had power over nothing. However his demise was eventually orchestrated in explosive fashion by the equally dastardly Olivia Taylor.

The name's Colbourn, James - yeah, doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
