During 'A Losing Streak', Del is suffering in the gambling world, losing everything he plays at, usually to Boycie. Even after Granddad gives him a double headed coin, he can't beat Boycie who twice beats him by calling heads.
After finally snapping his losing streak, beating his childhood friend in a high stakes poker game, Del decides to rub it in a little, giving Boycie a chance to win back a couple of hundred quid on a coin toss. To make it 'fair', Rodney would call heads or tails.
Of course, Rodney knew all about the coin Del was using, but with one of his stupider moments throughout the entire series, still called tails. Even with a 100% chance of winning, the Trotters still found a way to lose.
