23. Granddad's Hat
Though primarily a comedy show, as this list proves capable of truly iconic moments, Only Fools and Horses was able to offer some real touching, emotional moments as well. Rodney and Cassandra's miscarriage and the scene in the lift, the Trotters saying goodbye to Nelson Mandela House, and of course, Granddad's funeral.
While showing Del and Rodney grieving for their Granddad, David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst were grieving for their friend Lennard Pearce. In such an emotionally charged episode, the writers were still able to sneak some humour to make the audience laugh even in the midst of a terribly sad episode.
As a final gesture, Rodney throws his Granddad's hat into the grave before it is filled. It is only as they walk off however, that it turns out it was the vicar's hat he threw in to be buried underground. This just demonstrates the incredible ability Only Fools had to make people laugh no matter what.
