It's kind of crazy that this is even happening, but Netflix is bringing us a sequel to Wet Hot American Summer this July. What at first seemed like it would be a new movie actually ended up becoming a full, eight episode series.

The cult comedy film Wet Hot American Summer was released in 2001. At the time it received pretty poor reviews, but it's gained a lot of appreciation over time as a completely insane but hilarious absurdist comedy. The movie stars a whole bunch of people who went on to become huge stars including Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper.

The original film starts out seeming pretty normal and somewhat cliche, but it slowly spirals into downright insanity, at times making absolutely no sense whatsoever. The new series seems to be continuing that joke, and to add on to the absurdity, it's actually a prequel to the original. In that 2001 movie, the whole cast was already way too old to be playing characters in their late teens. Now, over ten years later, they'll be playing even younger versions of those people.

Awesome.
