Created by Community's Dan Harmon, Rick and Morty's first season already established itself as one of the most brilliant animated comedies ever made. Because the show is animated, Harmon has such a crazy amount of freedom to do whatever his mind can think of, and it's a true testament to the power of the genre.
The show follows crazy, alcoholic scientist Rick and his young grandson Morty as they go on a series of insane adventures through time and space. It's kind of like the dynamic between Doc Brown and Marty McFly, except if Doc Brown was constantly burping and getting drunk.
The show feels loose and like anything can happen, with one memorable episode containing entire sections that were completely improvised. It's been a long wait, but the show is finally coming back for 10 new episodes this July. Wubba lubba dub dub!
