The sexual tension between Ani and Ray has been evident since the first episode, and this finally came home to roost when the pair were lying low in a motel while trying to clear their names. At the start of episode seven, a still-high Ani tries to make a move on Ray, who rejects her, insisting it won't help. At the end of the episode, however, that all changes. Paul is away trying to tie up the blackmail attempt against him, so Ani and Ray, both supremely damaged individuals, find some measure of comfort in one another, with Ani later stating that it seemed like he was "making up for lost time". This encounter also leads to the birth of Ani and Ray's baby at the very end of the series, as if this liaison wasn't strange enough already.
