3 Reasons For And Against John Oliver Getting A Daily Show Spin-Off

2. Against: Audience

thedailyshow Going along with the previous reason against Oliver having his own show, I€™m not entirely certain that he could command an audience. At least not yet. Part of what has made him so appealing at the host of The Daily Show is that it is something different and new. He has been able to keep the ratings steady during these past few months, and everybody seems to be talking about him. That could, however, not translate over if he were to have his own show. I think it would be difficult for him to gain and maintain an audience. Perhaps an hour and a half of different jokes about the same political fallacies is a bit too much for audiences to enjoy on a daily basis. I€™m not sure, but it€™s definitely something to think about as Stewart returns and Oliver slots back into his usual correspondence role.
