30 Greatest Doctor Who Episodes Of The Revived Series

30. The Angels Take Manhattan

Classic Doctor Who often delivered very touching companion exits (Jo, Sarah Jane... hell, even Adric!) and thankfully this was something the revived series continued... and then some. This heartbreaker from Series 7 sees the final exits of Amy and Rory Williams (the modern series' current longest-running companions until Clara takes over the mantel later this year) when the dreaded Weeping Angels cause terror in New York, both past and present. Sure, the plotting isn't watertight (exactly why can't the Doctor go back to rescue the Ponds from the 1930s, exactly?) but the Pond's farewell is very effective nonetheless. No amount of flaws could take away from the emotion of saying goodbye to two such loveable companions.
