For three seasons, we all knew Eren as the "shoot first, ask questions later" type of character in the show. As entertaining as that was, it also led to our main character getting the brakes beaten off of him at numerous points throughout those three seasons. While Eren might be brave and always ready to kill some titans, he's certainly not the smartest.

Fast forward five years and our war ready, yet extremely dumb protagonist has all grown up and developed some intelligence alongside the brute strength he possesses as the Attack Titan.

All you need to do is look at how he handles the Warhammer Titan (who might be the best looking Titan out of all of them). After battling it for a while, Eren realises that the Titan transformed from the feet up and not from the nape, allowing him to figure out how to defeat the Titan - and most importantly - take its power.
