Compared to Dodd, Bear Gerhardt (Angus Sampson) is a paragon of sanity - his cool-headed attitude and unwillingness to foolishly rush into danger makes him more akin to his mother than anyone else in his admittedly dysfunctional family. That said, when he discovers that Dodd has sent his son Charlie to take care of Ed "The Butcher of Luverne" Blumquist he loses his rag and attacks Dodd. When the dust settles Dodd takes off his belt and asks Bear if he wants the strap or the buckle - in case you needed clarification, the Gerhardts are a very strange family.
