After putting up his ineffective barricade and soiling himself, Karl Weathers is the last character you'd expect to pull them out of their quagmire, particularly in light of the fact that he's pretty darn drunk. Clearly the sight of all those guns sobered him up - after talking with Charlie Karl takes the initiative and negotiates a deal with Bear, convincing him that the best hopes for his son lie in him and his men leaving immediately. Offerman's performance shines, and Karl proves himself as worthy of more than just comic relief.
