The idea that Peggy Blomquist might be a little bit on the mental side didn't come up for the first time during this scene, but it sure was set in stone. Episode 8 opens with Ed arriving home to find Peggy sat having a wonderfully illuminating and inspiring conversation with a motivational speaker - who doesn't exist. Instead, Dodd is seated opposite, bound to a chair with thick rope.
