4 Reasons Donald Glover Is A God-Like Genius

4. After Releasing A Successful CD, Glover Released A Free One For His Fans

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMKcOxk_Rs8 After the successful release of "Camp", Glover looked to move quickly and cement his spot in the music industry, coupling it with his success in the acting game. With this, Glover looked to produce a new CD, using his connections managed to score some epic hook-ups and features. The new mix tape featured musical stars such as RZA, Ghostface Killah and Beck, as well as some other features from up coming rappers, such as Nipsy Hussle and Danny Brown, as well as an amusing feature from Tina Fey. Glover has previously produced his own songs, but this was the first time he had done it with so many features. The result was pretty mixed, with some excellent tracks, including Real Estate (the track which featured Tina Fey), Toxic (A remix of the Britney Spears song), Black Faces and American Royalty (which had the backing of a Brass Orchestra). Glover also managed to manipulate a variety of different rap styles into the mix tape, mixing softer beats, like he was regarded for in his earlier work with some harsher beats featured in some of the other tracks such as "One UP" (which featured Steve G. Lover). While ROYALTY didn't have the same success of Camp, for someone of Glover's status to release it, so soon after Camp, was amazing. The biggest part of this was after releasing a successful album, in Camp, that a musician would release a Mix Tape for free from their website, and directly endorsing it. Most musicians in Glover's position would have held off, waiting for time to pass after the release of Camp, and then sold the mix tape to the same fans. Aside from Radiohead, not many signed artists would release a mix tape for free, and even in the case of Radiohead, the release online was more an experiment to see whether people would actually pay for music. Whereas with Glover's mix-tape, it was downloaded straight from the site with no option to even pay a cent, he was just giving it away.
