4 Times Doctor Who Mimicked Classic Mythology

3. The Ark In Space

Going back to a very popular Fourth Doctor adventure, it becomes obvious that this episode is based around the story of Noah€™s Ark. Though it does not really fully mimic the story as much as it mimics the idea of the ark itself, it has still made the list for this reason. It's basically an alien version of the ark and the captain is discretely even named Noah. The story of Noah's Ark ends after Noah gets a plant from a dove he set loose to find land. Instead of a dove, the inhabitants oversleep due to the Wirm taking over. They were always ready to get off the Ark. This story doesn€™t seem to have that much Noah€™s Ark symbolism embedded into it but it was still worth mentioning it nonetheless. It isn't really a science-fiction version of the story Noah€™s Ark at all - it€™s its own thing. As far as the myth goes, there weren€™t people turning into Wirms on Noah€™s Ak, and there isn't an example of the dove bringing a branch to Noah, either. He gets infected by Wirm instead. At the end, as the inhabitants of Noah's Ark repopulated the Earth, it is implied that the inhabitants of the space ark repopulate the Earth as well, but that is about as far as the similarities go.
