When the Doctor and Clara travelled to the assumed fictional Sherwood Forest, they met up with Robin Hood. Previously thought to be fictional, then a robot, the Doctor and Robin ended up in a duel. Robin asked the Doctor to choose his weapon, and instead of reaching for a sword, bow, or even his trusty sonic screwdriver... the Doctor instead chose a spoon to duel Robin with. Showing off some of the fighting chops not seen since the Third Doctor's era (who was trained in the ways of Venusian Aikido), and though armed with an eating utensil, the Doctor wins the duel fairly handily. The moral of the story? Never bring a spoon to a sword fight... unless you're the Doctor!
