5 Actors Who Hated Working On Game Of Thrones
1. Stephen Dillane - Stannis Baratheon
Although all of the previous entries undoubtedly took issue with their time in Westeros, there's still a tiny whiff of positivity about the experience - no matter how small. That same optimism cannot be found with Stephen Dillane, as he's made it abundantly clear that his time on Game of Thrones was not an experience he enjoyed being a part of.
Dillane discussed with The Times how he had no idea what was going on most of the time whilst shooting and wouldn't even know what he was doing until it was "too late". He claims that he relied heavily upon Liam Cunningham - Davos Seaworth - to know what their scenes were even about.
He also talked about how disheartening he found the entire experience, as he thought no one would believe his performance thanks to the fact that - rather poetically - he'd "built the castle on non-existent foundations", due to his lack of understanding and passion for the script.
The positive takeaway from this is that Dillane did an excellent job with the role, as the harsh yet fair Stannis was a popular character, despite his flaws and poor decisions.
Producing such an impressive performance on "non-existent foundations" is proof that he still did his duty to Stannis Baratheon.
