5 Blindingly Obvious Ways To Revitalise Saturday Night TV

2. Bring Back The Family Game Show

I know it's a bit 90s, and it brings back chills of people who should never go anywhere near spandex, but obstacle course game shows like Gladiators could be successful again if reformatted. Now, Gladiators itself failed when it was revived in 2008, so the lesson is to create an entirely new hybrid kind of a game show. People like dancing. People like singing. People like trivia contests. People like watching other people fall over. If this is what most families want to watch when it comes to Saturday Night TV, then why not make one mega show to accommodate all of these things together? Most people miss the 'daftness' of British television, where one minute a contestant would be giving a hard thought answer to a maths question, and the next be neck-deep in slimy gunge. It's ridiculous yet fun €“ and it's something the Saturday night slot is missing. Someone like James Corden could present €“ he seems like the kind of guy that could carry a show of this kind, a bit silly and a bit crazy. Maybe Ant and Dec could hit Saturday nights again. As regards to the show, think Pointless meets Total Wipeout. Oh yeah, and make a celebrity version where we get to see celebrity families take on each other in a Battle Royale. While this may not be moving away from the celeb thing, just imagine the possibilities. Perhaps a jousting match between Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson? Now THAT I would love to see.
