5 Characters Who Should Come Back For 24: Live Another Day

2. Kim Bauer

Yeah, Kim€™s not exactly 24's most admired character...at least the Kim we had to put up with for the first three seasons. Starting out as a teenager in season 1, Kim was essentially used as a damsel-in-distress for most of that season, first being kidnapped (along with her mother) by Ira Gaines and held captive for the first half of the day. She had a few other mishaps later in the day, but it went in a complete 360 as she was again kidnapped by terrorists to screw with Jack. By season 2, Kim has stopped talking to her father and has a job as an au pair to a wealthy Los Angeles family. After finding out the father of the family is abusive towards his daughter, Kim gets the daughter out of the house, and his kicks off season 2 of the Kim Adventures, which included hanging out with a creepy guy in a bomb shelter, being held in a convenience store while it€™s robbed, the infamous cougar incident, and it all culminates in her shooting her former employer. Yeah, things got weird in season 2. In season 3, Kim has started working at CTU (she got a computer science degree I guess) and most of her story revolved around her relationship with Jack€™s partner Chase. Kim left the cast after season 3 and only made guest appearances afterwards. Season 5 had her discovering her father had faked his death, and she and Jack survive the Sentox attack on CTU, she tells him she couldn€™t be around him because death always surrounded him. In season 7, about 6 years (in 24 time) after her last encounter with Jack, she reunited with him after learning he was dying from a biological weapon. We learn that during that time she€™s gotten married and had a daughter named Teri, obviously named after her mother. She also appeared in the first two episodes of season 8, telling Jack she€™s moving back to L.A. with her family. Jack originally decides to come with him, but after he gets dragged into another mess of terrorism, Kim tells him to help out CTU so he can save lives. Although Kim didn€™t reappear after that, we see Jack recording a message for her near the end of the season explaining the actions he took later that day against the conspirators involved in Renee Walker€™s death. Live Another Day is supposed to take place about four years after season 8, and we can assume that since Jack has been on the run from both American and Russian authorities that he hasn€™t been able to contact Kim in that time. I don€™t want Kim in a crucial role in the miniseries, but at the very least I€™d like to see Jack reunite with her, whether it€™s in person or over the phone, and gets a touching moment between the two of them. I€™m not usually this sappy, but considering all the crap Jack€™s had to put up with in his life and all the friends and family of his who have died, Kim€™s been one of the few good things in his life. She may not be my favorite character, but she€™s important to Jack, and I€™d like for him to get to see her again and explain in more detail why he made the choices that he did in season 8.
