He begrudgingly respects Jack but also undermines his plans, questions his leadership, and tries to steal Kate. James "Logan" Howlett is a rugged, unsociable, loner who insists that he only looks out for himself. In fact, we find him to be self-sacrificing, compassionate, protective, and fiercely loyal. He slowly accepts Cyclops as a leader after overt challenges to his authority and failed attempts to woo Jean. And now the most bizarre part: At a young age, James Ford witnessed his parents involved in a murder suicide. After a man named Tom Sawyer conned his parents out of all their money, Ford's dad killed his wife and then himself. Ford takes the name "Sawyer" as his own, becomes a con man himself, and vows to kill the man who caused the death of his parents, which he ultimately does. At a young age, James Howlett witnessed his parents involved in a murder suicide. After a man named Thomas Logan shoots his dad, he stabs and kills Logan. His mother casts him out and shortly after kills herself. Howlett takes the name "Logan" as his own after killing the man who caused the death of his parents.
