5 Feel Good Anime Worth Bingeing

3. Amagi Brilliant Park

Amagi Brilliant Park
Kyoto Animation

Based on the light novel series written by Shoji Gatoh, the story of Amagi Brilliant Park follows main character and high schooler, Seiya Kanie (no, not Kanye). A perfectionist, narcissist, former child star, Kanie is asked out, albeit forcefully, and brought to the amusement park known as Amagi Brilliant Park. Accompanied by his date-cum-captor, Isuzu Sento, the pair explore the attractions of the park.

After declaring that the state of the park is abysmal, and the attractions are not at all attractive, Sento introduces Kanie to the owner of Amagi Brilliant Park, Latifah Fleuranza. Revealing that she is the princess of a magical realm known as Maple Land, Latifah explains that her existence, as well as those of the park staff, is dependent on the energy harvested from happiness.

Unfortunately, due to the poor shape of Amagi Brilliant Park, they are at risk of being closed down, cutting off their supply the very force that keeps them alive. Latifah begs Kanie to help bring the park out of the red and save the residents of the park.

The hijinks that follow are both hilarious, touching, and entirely absurd. The characters are unique and not without their own vices, and the story is one that you can easily pick up. With only 13 episodes and an additional OVA, it’s a bite-sized slice of humour and happiness.

Living in a place colder than it is north of The Wall, Brad keeps warm with all the excitement that comes from a good anime series, comic book, or movie. Being an opinionated sort of fellow puts him in a precarious position with friends and strangers, but applying that superpower to the world of writing seems to be doing alright for him.
