5 Iconic TV Sitcom Tag Scenes From The 2010s

4. New Girl - Jar

New Girl's characters were eclectic and eccentric, with each character having huge fanbases and people always arguing about who was the best.

You had Winston fans, who loved how increasingly weird the cat-loving-colour-blind character got throughout the show's run; there were the diehard fans of Nick, who related to his aggressive yet lazy demeanour; and then there were the Schmidt fans, who got a kick out of every failed pick-up line he tried on women and stuck around for his development into the perfect husband and father.

One of Schmidt's most iconic running gags was the "douchebag jar". The members of the loft had a jar full of money on their side table for Schmidt to add to anytime he said something douche-y (which was often). The running gag also had a great pay off in the end when Schmidt smashed it in lieu of a glass at his wedding to CeCe.

The Jar was a stable of the show from the very beginning and it was the focus of the Season 1 episode The Story of 50, in which the gang discuss an incident that led to Schmidt having to put $50 in the jar.

The tag scene for this episode sees Schmidt do increasingly douche-y things while off screen characters exasperatedly order "JAR". Some of the improvised lines include: "Darn it. Has anyone seen my croquet cleats?" and the ever classy "Sex stuff..."
