5 Most Cable-Like Shows On Network TV

4. Hannibal

3. B HannibalCreator: Bryan Fuller Network: NBC Bryan Fuller created a dark, haunting, macabre world that you don€™t usually see on network television. There was a grand wave of horror recently and the networks wanted to ride on the coattails of The Walking Dead and American Horror Story. Pulling source material from Thomas Harris€™ books (no real continuity with the films here) NBC actually did something right. Originally brought in as a mid-season replacement, Hannibal had a lot of success early on, and now a lot more networks are considering using the cable-format of a 13-episode season. The cinematography is intoxicating, and Hugh Dancy (Will Graham) and Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) are top-notch. Graham is a haunted FBI special investigator who works with Dr. Hannibal in gruesome murder cases. Of course, things aren€™t as they seem, and Hannibal has some naughty fun. I applaud Fuller for not using the titular character and milking the popularity of the film and books. Instead, he uses Will Graham as our struggling hero and the world he creates is creepy and wonderful.

I'm currently getting my masters in Writing and Publishing in Chicago. I usually fill my time with marathoning great television. My favorite shows are The Sopranos, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Wire, Lost, and so much more. Count on me to write mainly about television.
