5 Once Loved TV Shows That Descended Into Total Failure

2. Scrubs

JDsized Scrubs was brilliant. Right up until season 8. Following the lives and day-to-day tribulations of doctors John "JD" Dorian, Elliott Reid, Turk, Dr Cox and Carla Espinosa, as well as an unfriendly janitor and a menacing Chief of Medicine, this comedy-drama was a huge hit and one of NBC, and later ABC's staple shows. The characters were likable, the storylines were well written, and amid all the zany comedy there were moments of truly profound sadness and the show wasn't afraid to take itself seriously by featuring plots about terminally ill and suicidal patients. By the time the show officially ended after season 8 in 2010, there was great sadness and the "last episode" entitled 'Our Thanks' was almost poetic - the final scene where JD wanders through the hospital ward on his last day at work with all the people he's met over the years, alive and deceased, lining the side of the corridor's sent a chill down my spine and if it had only ended there, Scrubs wouldn't be on a list like this. Regrettably, and a decision that still sticks in my throat, ABC decided to give it one last "hurrah" with a season 9 that featured interns nobody cared about rather than regular cast members who fans had grown to love, and the likes of Zach Braff Sarah Chalke and Judy Reyes, who helped make the series as good as it was, barely or didn't even feature. In the end, the show was cheapened by an unnecessary season 9 that will forever live in infamy.
