5 Radio Plays That Prove a Firefly Radio Show Would Work

2. Doctor Who

After leaving the air in 1989, fans of the most enduring science fiction franchise were left in despair as it seemed the TARDIS would fly no more. For ten years they were correct. In 1999, however, Big Finish Productions began producing a series of full cast audio dramatizations based on the long running series. Their first offering---The Sirens of Time---gave fans more than they could have hoped for by not only casting an original doctor to reprise the role but getting three of them together in the same story as Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Peter Davison all returned as The Doctor. Throughout its run, Big Finish has maintained the format of the original Doctor Who series, cast the original actors whenever possible and faithfully captured the spirit of the Doctor in an Audio transmission. As an editorial aside I must say that the sixth doctor story €œWhispers of Terror€ in which the Doctor battles a sound wave as his enemy in the Museum of Aural Antiquities is some of the best Doctor Who I€™ve ever experienced. To date, Big Finish has produced nearly two hundred of these audio adventures and have become fan favorites. Such success is no doubt what has led long time hold out Tom Baker to return to the TARDIS in 2012 for the Fourth Doctor Adventures.
