5 Reasons To Watch Modern Doctor Who

2. Exciting Monsters

One of Doctor Who's biggest draws has always been seeing what type of foe the Doctor faces in each of his adventures. It's safe to say that some of the monsters - namely the Daleks and the Cybermen - are just as iconic as the TARDIS when it comes to identifying the show, so it wasn't really a surprise when they arrived on the scene for the modern series. But the 2005 upgrade has given us memorable monsters in its own right. The Gelth from The Unquiet Dead gave us a clever twist on traditional ghosts, and the Reaper from Father's Day was a harkening back to the Chronovores from the classic series. The Toclafane were a chilling insight into the monsters that humanity itself has the potential to become...but the Silence, we learn, were controlling humanity from the very beginning. The Weeping Angels, of course, are in a class by themselves. After all, how can you fight the natural urge to blink?
