5 Reasons We Should All Be Excited About Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
4. Taking The Reins From Discovery
We can surmise that between the end of the Klingon War and the onset of Kirk’s historic five-year mission, Starfleet and the Federation underwent considerable changes, altering the appearance of the Enterprise, as well as changing the political landscape of the Alpha and Beta quadrants. Yet as Discovery warped into the future, fans were left with more questions and no obvious way to answer them.
Although Picard might have given us clarity of this, using the characters personal connection to Sarek and therefore to Michael Burnham as a catalyst, this never materialised. Instead, fans were left with an obvious gap of how we got from one to the other with nothing given to fill it. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the answer to this, and can give it the time it deserves.
Fans have been calling for clarity on this period since Discovery first aired, and Strange New Worlds may provide it, providing both surprises and explanations which tie the shows together in a satisfying way.
Michael Burnham may now be lost in the future, but her legacy, and that of Discovery in general, lives on, and in Strange New Wolds it can be given a proper resolution.
