2. Gus The Gunman
One of the more innocent souls on Fargo has been Gus Grimley, played brilliantly by Colin Hanks. The Police officer-turned-postman seemed much happier delivering mail to his neighbors than he ever did as a cop, but the mild-mannered Minnesotan ended up being the one who took out the big bad wolf. Gus had heard that Malvo was back in town and was seen driving a red BMW. By sheer luck, he stumbled upon Malvo's hideout and car after stopping to avoid hitting a wolf (a symbol of Malvo himself) that was standing in the street. He staked out the cabin until an injured Malvo returned to lick his wounds after being fooled by Lester into stepping into a bear trap. Gus entered the cabin and proceeded to tell Malvo that he had finally solved a riddle Malvo had previously told him before firing off three shots into the man's chest. Malvo, not quite dead, groaned and looked at Grimley with murderous intentions, but before he could make it off the couch, the postman fired two more shots, one hitting the hitman in the head and finally ending his reign of terror. This is a man who was so shaken by Malvo when he first met him that he could barely even speak who had now turned into a man brave enough to face the wolf head on. His transformation from coward to hero is almost as big as Lester's transformation from brow-beaten husband to cold-blooded killer.
