5 Standalone Power Rangers Seasons Worth Watching

5. Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue

WC - Lightspeed Rescue Alt 2Year: 2000 (Season 8) Plot: Ancient demonic minions of the evil Queen Bansheera are released from their tomb after centuries of imprisonment, and launch an attack on Mariner Bay - the modern city built over the ruins of their temple. To prepare for their queen's return, they seek to eradicate the human presence from their land and restore the temple to its former glory. In response, the government organization Lightspeed recruits five young men and women to utilize advanced technology and weaponry to become Power Rangers and protect Mariner Bay from the demonic onslaught. Why It's Worth Watching: Lightspeed Rescue was a season of firsts; it was the first truly standalone Power Rangers season, the first season with Ranger powers created by humans, and the first season where the Rangers were public figures with no secret identities. This makes it a good starting point for people new to the franchise. It's also praised by Power Rangers fans for the story arc which introduces the evil Titanium Ranger - in many ways an updated version of the super-popular €œGreen with Evil€ arc from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers that introduced Green Ranger Tommy. Finally, Carter Greyson - the Red Lightspeed Ranger - is something of a memetic badass within the fandom for his lack of hesitation in using his gun, trying to drive over monsters, and jumping right at giant demons. If all else fails, Jennifer L. Yen's €œacting€ as demonic femme fatale Vypra - terrible even by kid show standards - is always good for a laugh. Though it's probably the worst season on the list, it's still an enjoyable time.
