5. Jaime Ray Newman aka Lt. Laura Cadman - Under The Mistletoe

Though her Jaime Ray Newman's character, Lt. Laura Cadman, appeared only briefly in two episodes of Atlantis, she is is probably still well remembered for two things - being a love interest of Carson Beckett's, and being stuck in Rodney McKay's head and being the cause of the kiss between in Beckett. In this supernatural Christmas movie however, Jamie Ray Newman gets a starring role as widowed mother Susan Chandler who's husband dies just before Christmas. A year later her young son Jonathan is claiming he's talking to his fatehr's ghost - which he is - and together they hatch a plot to enter Susan in a radio dating contest. Meanwhile Susan, having discovered Jonathan had a fight at school, enlists the help of the new school counsellor Kevin Harrison, hoping he can talk to her son. The film gives Jaime Ray Newman more scope than the few scenes she had as Cadman, and she manages to put in an emotional performance here, especially in the dramatic scenes. Meanwhile Stargate fans might also be delighted to see that her love interest is played by Michael Shanks from Stargate SG-1. Best line from the film: Kevin: You know what my wife used to say? She'd say follow your heart. And don't look back. You do that and sometimes life surprises you.
