5 Stargate Atlantis Actors You Should See In These Christmas TV Movies

3. David Hewlett aka Dr. Rodney McKay - On The 2nd Day Of Christmas

Dr Rodney McKay, played by David Hewlett, started off as a guest character on SG-1 before becoming one of the main characters in Stargate Atlantis, appearing in every episode of the series five season run. The arrogant, often comedic foil of the team, his character was the who probably developed most during the show, mellowing out somewhat and gaining a love interest with the arrival of Dr Keller. Unlike all the other movies on this list, David Hewlett here plays the antagonist, a goofy crook called Mel, who is the former teacher and boyfriend of the protagonist Trish, played by Mary Stuart Materson. Trish and her niece Patsy are pickpockets, who are caught attempting to steal a wallet in a mall by Bert, played by Mark Ruffalo - who they are forced to stay with until they can be taken into custom after Christmas. Meanwhile, Mel in debt to some rough looking men, keeps trying to catch up with Trish and get her help - resulting in him basically kidnapping Patsy to help him pickpocket. David Hewlett, not adverse to the more villianous roles, plays the slimy and desperate Mel dressed in his cheap Santa suit, excellently - ad fans of Atlantis might be amused to see the actor not only speak energetically, as he is apt to do as McKay, but throw much more engery into his physical performance as he dives away from the debtor collectors. Best line from the film: Mel: Now listen Patsy, you do like I ask or your aunt Trish is in big trouble. I don't wanna hurt her. But I will. And I'll buy you a puppy and I'll hurt the puppy too.
