5 Terrible TV Dads

5. Ted Mosby "How I Met Your Mother"

Ted Mosby is the worst thing about How I Met Your Mother, and if it wasn't for this character, I could actually maybe see myself liking the show. He has a massive ego, he is unbelievably arrogant, and he is the most whiny thing currently on TV. When you actually think about his life so far, he has been pretty successful for his age. He is a successful architect (by the way, one of the most annoying and clichéd fictional character jobs) and he seems to be pretty lucky with the ladies, at least more than men that live in the real world are. Perhaps if he stopped obsessing about, and talking about meeting his future wife, more of his relationships would actually succeed and he could enjoy his ridiculously privileged life a little more. But what makes him so unlikable, and why he appears on this list is that his children in the future (good luck to the woman who eventually marries him) have had to listen to eight years of this characters actually pretty boring life, as he obsesses about finding his soul mate. Basically, instead of saying, "I met your mother at a bar" or something along those lines, he tortures them (yes, tortures) with now 162 and counting episodes of failed romances and even more failed jokes. His children have apparently had to listen to every failed romance and sexual partner their father has ever had... not really appropriate. So maybe the character loves his children so much that he wants them to know every single little thing about him, but really, enough is enough now. Give your kids a break, you are clearly boring them.
