5 Terrible TV Dads

4. Peter Griffin "Family Guy"

Peter Griffin is probably my second favorite animated character of all time... but this doesn't mean he's a nice guy. Sure, to over-analyze this character would be ridiculous. He isn't supposed to exist in a realistic world... he's friend with both Jesus and Death and his best friend is a talking dog... but regardless, he still deserves his place on this list. Peter Griffin is perhaps the most inappropriate father of all time, with too many instances of terrible fathering to count. From memory, he has chased his daughter Meg around a room farting at her until she passes out and throws up on the floor, called her "office hot" in my all time favorite family guy scene (the meeting about handi-quacks), and rubbed a bogey on her hat... really, it goes on and on. I think he's actually shot her a couple of times, but remember, this isn't real life. All this is pretty much the point of Family Guy, and if you don't like gross out inappropriate humor, you probably don't watch the show. The best two examples of terrible fathering I can think of both feature Meg. The first is when Peter tells Lois (his wife) that they had agreed that if they could only save two children, they'd leave behind Meg; and the second is in a scene when all the family think the world is about to end and Peter's last words are that he never really cared for any of his children. Still, he's hilarious so all is mostly forgiven. Oh, and in the latest episode (Season 11 ep 1) he ate (yes, ate) someones teenage son... though seeing as this wasn't his own child, this doesn't really count.

I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
