Last year, Netflix signed a pretty interesting deal with comedian Jimmy Carr. Instead of going down the traditional route of releasing his live show on DVD during the lucrative Christmas period, he would make it available online, exclusively, a few months later. Over the past few years, sales of DVDs have fallen quicker than holiday cancellations to Egypt, and if Jimmy Carr can't shift enough copies to make it worth his while, you know a tidal change is coming. This isn't a fad - Anyone would find to argue with a guaranteed pay cheque over a questionable return on dwindling sales. Equally, the US has led the way in producing standup specials for years thanks to the likes of HBO and Comedy Central, and with these show now so readily available on streaming services, it was only a matter of time before the UK caught the bug. Jimmy Carr: Funny Business was recorded at the prestigious Hammersmith Apollo, and is coming to a living room near you from March 18th.
