1. Someone Needs To Die, And Stay That Way
If you've spent more than eight seconds on tumblr, you'll notice that Steven Moffat is known for one thing - being the most bloodthirsty, callous writer in the history of Who. Have you seen his episodes? The death toll has been appalling. The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances - where all those poor, innocent people are turned into Gasmask Zombies... and then survive, return to normal, and a woman grows her leg back. The Forest of the Dead and Silence in the Library - where River's whole team, and River herself die horribly and are...preserved in the largest library in the universe, which Moffat himself said was like paradise. River continues to come back, over and over again, pre-library and then afterwards. The Doctor's Daughter, where Jenny, the only other Gallifreyan in existence is shot and killed and then...comes back to life, nicks a spaceship and is never heard from again. Let's not even get started on Oswin, who dies in the Dalek asylum...and returns as Clara in The Snowmen...and returns as Clara in contemporary England...who should die in The Name of the Doctor, but doesn't. But, Amy and Rory die! Yes. Together, offscreen. Of old age. The majority of deaths in Moffat's episodes are reversed or later negated, meaning they lose a lot of their punch on a rewatch or when they're brought up again. Remember how shocking Adelaide's suicide in The Waters of Mars was? Rita going to her death in The God Complex? Even Adric, way back during the Fifth Doctors run. "Now I'll never know if I was right." Moffat's got to get his hands bloody before his time as showrunner ends. And if Eleven dies from falling off a building, I'm going to head up to Cardiff and make sure Moffat goes in the same way.
