5 TV Shows That Should Have Got A Second Season

2. Firefly

Was there ever any doubt that Joss Whedon would one day become a world class director? Not if you watched his directorial debut. The godfather of cancelled TV shows, Firefly is one of the most loved shows in television history. Joss Whedon's space western drama is still regarded as some of his best work - not bad for the guy who brought us Buffy The Vampire Slayer and The Avengers. The show itself was cancelled after just 11 episodes (14 were eventually released on DVD), but its legacy remains untarnished. Some fans still claim that this is the best sci-fi series of all time, and judging by the support it receives at Comic Con every year, I bet Fox regrets cancelling this prematurely. Perhaps Firefly was just too ambitious, or maybe people weren't ready for another space adventure. Whatever the reason, I think if it was to be released today, in a post-Avengers world, it would be hugely popular. Too bad we'll never know. The follow up movie Serenity provided some closure, but fans still demanded a second season, even to this day, ten years on. Has there ever been a more high profile show that was cancelled before its time?
