2. Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip
Now here was a severely underrated show that revealed the inner workings of a Saturday Night Live style show. Airing for only one magical season Monday nights on NBC, this dramatic dark comedy was written by the legend Aaron Sorkin who also of course penned A Few Good Men, Sports Night, The West Wing, The Social Network, and Moneyball. I'm sorry but with writing of a more intelligent nature on a TV show, it usually signals the death of that show. There are of course many exceptions but the reality is that Studio 60 was one of the best shows on television. It starred Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford as two former show runners for the fictional sketch comedy show that are brought back to make the show relevant again. Supporting them were other amazing actors like Amanda Peet, Steven Weber, Timothy Busfield, and Simon Helberg. The group flowed so well together, and you truly found yourself caring for even the minor characters. Sure the show had that same fast paced walk and talk Sorkin style, but since when is that a bad thing? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The show went on a hiatus just as it was truly hitting its stride but luckily it came back for approximately 3 or 4 episodes to finish off the story. At least we the fans got a complete story out of NBC before they pulled the plug. Thank You Studio 60! I miss you!
