5 Ways Geordie Shore Is Just Not Jersey Shore

3. A Geordie Is NOT A Guido Equivalent

cover_geordieShore.crop_display €˜We€™re gonna show €˜em how Geordies party!€™, €˜You can€™t be a Geordie without a tan!€™ Oh well, they tried. They failed. Simply copying platitudes from your parent show is not an worthy adaptation, but more like a bad parody. It has never really been clearly explained exactly what being a €˜Geordie€™ means by the cast. Don€™t get me wrong I€™m not crediting the Jersey Shore cast as the personification of the €˜Guido€™ but, somehow, they did come across as more authentic and really did portray an uncommon lifestyle. Whether a €˜Guido€™ really is a true representation of an €˜Italian American€™ is another story. However, the cast themselves have even denied representing American-Italian culture on many occasions. Conversely, the Geordies are put on a platform as representatives of a small city of the Northern East of England and have little choice in the matter. Really weekly spray tans, getting €˜mortal€™ and €˜bucking€™ has little to do with being €˜Geordie€™. Thus, other than the accent, there€™s nothing really distinguishable about these kids that warrants giving them a tv show. Britain isn€™t anywhere neat as diverse as America so we do not really have secret subcultures, such as Guidos. In fact, the closest I could really consider would be a €˜Chav€™, but that€™s hardly a title of self-proclamation.
