5 Ways Geordie Shore Is Just Not Jersey Shore

4. Newcastle: Seaside, It Ain€™t!

I can understand why the producers chose Newcastle to find its cast for their adaptation of Jersey Shore. It€™s northern, working-class and renowned for its nightlife, basically the home of a perfect reality star. However, now in Series Five, I can€™t help feel they made a HUGE mistake BASING the show in Newcastle. Yes it has good nightclubs but, firstly, the cast are forbidden to film in most of them and, two, that€™s ALL it€™s got going for it. Let€™s be honest, it€™s hardly a pretty coastal village. Oh, and another thing, it€™s not even on a shore! It€™s got a manky, grey river running through it. Surely it should be Geordie Riverbank? or, better still, just The Toon! Regardless of those, pedantic, points I€™ve made, the main problem I have with the show€™s location is it is not a place where you would stay for a length of time, a boozy weekend with your mates at the most. It€™s not a summer, or any seasonal, hotspot and, given that most of the cast live in the city, there isn€™t that holiday buzz of €˜going to Newcastle€™ as the Jersey lot have about travelling €˜down the Shore€™. Frankly, the show isn€™t doing a job at convincing us that Newcastle is really the UK equivalent to €˜Guido heaven€™, Seaside Heights.
