5 Ways Geordie Shore Is Just Not Jersey Shore

1. The Premise is Lost in Translation

the.cast.of.geordie.shore01 Basically, the Geordies don€™t realise that they are nothing out of the ordinary (and why would they) and their over-rehearsed €˜one-liners€™ are more forgettable than quotable. Geordie Shore has basically just descended into a northern Big Brother, with the cast even referring to the house as the Geordie Shore house. They aren€™t even trying to disguise the fact that they are on a set-up television show. At least Jersey Shore persisted with the 'summer job', in Danny€™s t-shirt shop, even though they are all rich enough to buy the whole boardwalk. They even kept the illusion that they are still unknown, anonymous kids from the Shore, editing out the crowds of fans that follow them relentlessly. In addition, the €˜relationships€™ between the housemates is either non-existent or comes across a extremely forced. Whilst it took Jersey Shore at least five or six seasons to get visibly fed up of each other, Geordie Shore never really developed that €˜family bond€™. Of course, the reason being, there was nothing for them to really €˜bond€™ over in the first place. The life of a young €˜Geordie€™ is nothing special. It€™s basically the same as every other 18 €“ 30 year old Brit. They literally could have plucked anyone from any city in the UK and pretty much would have got similar results. There are no real periphery subcultures in this culture that could mirror Guidos/Guidettes and accent is the only real marker of a €˜Geordie€™.
